SUMMARY:Strategic responses to cyber-enabled hybrid threats in Space
DESCRIPTION:This talk organised by StrathCyber explores the strategic responses of the United States\, China\, Russia\, and the United Kingdom to hybrid threats targeting space-based military assets\, highlighting the variations in their approaches. Using realism as a theoretical framework\, the study focuses on the core themes of power projection\, alliance balancing\, and self-help in an anarchic international system to explain these differences. Hybrid threats such as cyberattacks\, co-orbital satellite interference\, and signal jamming undermine space security\, forcing states to adapt their strategies to secure vital assets and maintain dominance in this contested domain. \nFind out more and register

Leo will present ideas from his book which ‘teaches you everything you need to start programming Python in an AI-first world’. (Published by Manning\, September 2023). There will also be a Q&A session. \nIn addition\, we will host some in-person meetings to view the talk and participate in follow-up discussions. \nRegister for the workshop or in-person meeting with follow-up discussion \n  \nThe locations for the in-person meetings are as follows: \nUniversity of Glasgow \nRoom 422\, Sir Alwyn Williams Building \n  \nUniversity of Edinburgh \nRoom 8.02\, Appleton Tower \n  \nEdinburgh Napier University \nRoom E11\, Merchiston Campus \n  \nIf you would like to organise any additional meetings locally or have any other questions\, please contact us – sicsa@glasgow.ac.uk \n  \nSICSA Talks Series  \nThis workshop kicks off a series of SICSA talks/discussions where we will consider how machine learning (AI and LLMs) can beneficially impact our teaching and learning practice. The aim of the discussion following Leo’s talk is to set the agenda for the series. The series will draw on experience at SICSA institutions and invited speakers. The series will include: \n• Learning programming with co-pilots.\n• System development using Machine Learning components.\n• System development using Machine Learning assistants.\n• Software Engineering in the context of Machine Learning.\n• Supporting students to make effective use of Machine Learning tools in coursework. \nPlease let us know if you have any ideas for additional workshops by contacting us – sicsa@glasgow.ac.uk
