CS Education: A Survey for UK Teaching-Focused Academics in Computing Science

We are conducting some research on promotion and support available for CS Education Research for Teaching-Focused Academics in Computer Science at UK Universities. We have the following research questions:

  • RQ1: What are the promotion requirements for CS teaching-focused academics across and between universities, and how well do they map T&L professional body requirements?
  • RQ2: How are CSEd research, practice, scholarship and SoTL considered and interpreted within promotion criteria for CS teaching-focused academics across and between universities?
  • RQ3: What are the barriers to going into CSEd research for CS teaching focused academics?
  • RQ4: How do institutions support CS teaching-focused academics with promotion and in going into CSEd research?

If you are a CS academic based in the UK, we invite you to complete our questionnaire.

This research has received Ethical Approval from Edinburgh University, School of Informatics Ethics Committee, with RT number 785234.
