SICSA is funded entirely by member contributions and continues to provide funding support for various programmes aimed at students and researchers across all Scottish institutions.
Funding Opportunities
HRI 2026 PhD STUDENT BURSARY
PhD students from SICSA institutions are invited to apply for a bursary to cover registration fees for HRI 2026, to be held in Edinburgh 13-16 March 2026.
PhD TRAVEL FUND
SICSA can support conference funding for PhD students who are currently studying Informatics/Computing Science within a SICSA institution.
Funding of up to £500 is provided to support travel for to present accepted conference publications.
EDUCATION EVENT SPONSORSHIP
SICSA supports the development of Informatics and Computing Science Education by facilitating collaboration between academics, the Government and other key stakeholders who have a particular interest in this area. We fund a lively programme of events and activities.
RESEARCH THEME EVENT SPONSORSHIP
SICSA Research Themes are driven by our academic community and research events are a great way to build and maintain relationships across Scotland across disciplines. We encourage researchers to organise activities across Research Themes, Research Pools and institutions, including Scottish Innovation Centres.

2026 WRITING RETREAT
Colleagues at SICSA institutions are invited to apply for a place on our 2026 Writing Retreat, 27-29 April 2026 at the Scottish Centre for Ecology and the Natural Environment (SCENE) on Loch Lomond.
PhD SUPERVISOR MENTORING
As part of the SICSA Graduate Academy’s aim to enhance research training and opportunities across Scottish HEIs, the SGA PhD Supervisor mentoring scheme provides supervisors with additional mentoring and advice beyond their own institution.
