Directorate
Core activities are overseen by the SICSA Directorate comprised of Directors of Education, Knowledge Exchange, Research and the SICSA Graduate Academy. The Directorate meets bi-weekly and is supported by an Executive Officer and Projects & Events Officer based at the University of Glasgow.
Prof Tim Storer
Director
Tim Storer is Professor in Software Engineering at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, where he leads the Systems Engineering Group and the Glasgow University Software Service (GUSS). Prof Storer was previously Deputy Director and has been SICSA’s Director since February 2025.
Dr Areti Manataki
Deputy Director of Education
Areti Manataki is a Lecturer in Computer Science and a health data scientist. In her research, she employs artificial intelligence methods to improve the delivery of healthcare services. Dr Manataki started in the role of Deputy Director of Education in January 2025.
Dr Peggy Gregory
Co-Director of SGA
Peggy Gregory is a Senior Lecturer in Software Engineering at the University of Glasgow. In her research, she investigates software engineering practice with the aim of developing theory and insights that result in improvements to practice, with focus on human and social aspects and use qualitative methods. Dr Gregory started in the role of Co-Director of SGA in September 2026.
Dr Peter Chapman
Co-Director of SGA
Peter Chapman is an Associate Professor and Head of Computer Science, at Edinburgh Napier University’s School of Computing, Engineering & the Built Environment. His research interests are in information visualisation, specifically of set-based data, and formal methods, in addition to the teaching of Computing Science. Dr Chapman started in the role of Co-Director of SGA in September 2026.

Strategic research activities are organised by the Research Committee which meets periodically and is comprised of Research Theme leads and Directors.
