We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Dr Tristan Henderson, Senior Lecturer at the University of St Andrews as our new SICSA Graduate Academy (SGA) Director and Dr Aiden Durrant, Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen as Deputy SGA Director. The SICSA Graduate Academy provides training, events, summer schools, conferences and research funding to PhD students, enhancing their interdisciplinary networks and skillset across all areas of Informatics and Computer Science.
In addition, we are extremely pleased that Dr Yashar Moshfeghi, Reader at the University of Strathclyde, will also join us in a newly created Director of Research role. This position will help progress and deliver the SICSA Research Community of Practise, training events and development opportunities for SICSA academics.
Deputy Director and Director of Knowledge Exchange, Dr Tim Storer commented: ‘ I’m really pleased that Tristan, Aiden and Yashar have accepted these appointments.
Tristan brings a wealth of experience to the role of SICSA Graduate Academy Director and has some fantastic ideas for how we can enhance the support we offer to students in every institution. As the local organising chair, Aiden was pivotal to delivering our most recent and hugely successful SICSA PhD Conference at the University of Aberdeen and I’m delighted he’s taken on the Deputy SGA Director role. I know that he will provide real energy and enthusiasm for our SGA events.
Yashar has a strong track record of research and as a collaborator I’ve always enjoyed working with him. He’s long been an advocate of greater activity coordination amongst our research theme leads and the need for enhanced theme leadership support. I’m excited to see how he will reform this aspect of SICSA’s remit in the very near future.’
